Giving Hearts Day was just a few days ago and we are simply blown away by the generosity and love our community has shown for our local non-profits. Overall the day was a record breaker, raising over $31 million! And we had an absolute blast participating in the day and lifting up some of our favorite charities.
Between employee donations, company match, and donors participating in our Partner Challenge, our office raised nearly $34,000 that was donated to 43 different charities. Wow! That alone warms our hearts! We feel incredibly honored to be able to support our community in this way – creating community for us means showing up in many different ways throughout the area.
The highlight of our Giving Hearts Day was definitely the partner challenge, though. This year ZBA partner Tony Wolf joined forces with CMTA’s Tony Nelson to take on the Drinko Board (Based on one of Jimmy Fallon’s famous segments from the Tonight Show) and raise money for four pre-selected non-profits: Haley’s Hope, Moorhead Legacy Education Foundation, Hospice of the Red River Valley, and Churches United. Like Plinko, chips were dropped down a board into various slots but unlike Plinko, these slots correlated with various drinks, and for every $500 we raised, Tony & Tony had to drop another chip down the board. Two chips were dropped at a time and those two drinks got mixed together into a variety of mixed drinks that ranged from delicious (pineapple juice + orange juice) to atrocious (fish sauce + soda water).
Shout out to our drink sponsors for making such entertaining selections!
Zerr Berg Architects: “Diet Coke” this was actually soy sauce, but we didn’t let the Tonys know that until the event had started
Gehrtz Construction Services: Hot Dog Water
CMTA: Gravy
KB Designs: Soda Water (baking soda + water)
Mission Mechanical: Apple Cider Vinegar
Friends of Tony Wolf: Pulpy Orange Juice
Magelkeys: Pineapple Juice
The Wolf Pack: Water
FM Builder’s Exchange: Fish Sauce
After raising nearly $17,000 for those four charities, the Tonys had to face 16 rounds of the Drinko board – and each round was very entertaining! A little glimpse inside our night below…
Participating in events like this brings our community together and empowers us all to create the kind of world we want to live in. We would encourage any company or individual who is interested to get involved with Giving Hearts Day in the future and finding a charity (or maybe a few!) to love!
