In response to a growing Fargo population and overcrowding at existing schools, Davies High School was designed to accommodate up to 1,350 students in a modern educational atmosphere. The school has 77 dedicated teaching stations including traditional classrooms, science lab classrooms, exploratory labs, music rehearsal space, career classrooms and technical labs. The athletic complex includes a competition gym with bleacher seating for 1,650 spectators, a practice gym and indoor swimming pool with seating for 500 spectators.
The overall site design for the outdoor spaces was a joint venture between Fargo Public Schools and the Fargo Park District. The site includes a football/soccer track and field complex with 2,000 seats, a baseball field, four softball fields, two and a half dedicated football/soccer practice fields, parking lots, a bus loop and building services court. An outdoor water park features two water slides in addition to water features for younger children. These outdoor amenities are open to the public outside of school hours and host a multitude of events throughout the entire year.
The school was designed per the district’s desire to meet the minimum requirements for LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification. The design incorporates a ground source (geo-thermal) heat pump system for heating and cooling.
