The athletic complex project at Shanley High School includes replacement of the existing football/soccer turf with new artificial turf and the construction of an 8-lane running track. Other upgrades that were part of this project were relocated long and high jump pits, pole-vaulting and shot-put areas, new LED light fixtures, and renovation of the field drainage system.
The timing of the project coincided with the scheduled replacement of the turf, which was 4-years past the expected end of its 10-year lifespan. To accommodate the new running track, the turf field had to be shifted approximately 35 feet to the east from its previous location.
This project consisted of two planned phases. During the first phase the existing turf was removed, fields relocated, new turf installed, and asphalt substrate of the track laid down. The second phase included installation of the track surface and markings resulting in the first home track in the school’s history.
