What interested you in pursuing architecture as a career?
I was always building and drawing things as a kid. Wooden or plastic blocks, paper, popsicle sticks, anything that could be put together, I was using to create something.. One day while doing research for a middle school project, I came across architecture as a profession and decided that’s what I want to do. Buildings and details have fascinated me since, I’ll plan whole trips around going to see a building I’ve heard of or seen somewhere.
Do you have a favorite type of project to work on?
My favorite project type is museum or cultural projects with education projects a close second. With education projects, you get to help design spaces for kids or teenagers or whoever to learn about their subjects, or the building itself, or other concepts just through the space. Being a part of teaching the next generation with inspiring spaces is really exciting.
How did you decide you wanted to work at ZBA?
The hometown firm feel with a larger regional presence. The work they do here is great and having had experience working with the team here while I was employed at a partner firm, I had first-hand experience that this would be a great place to work.
