Steve has been providing professional construction management services in the regional market for over 40 years, founding Gehrtz Construction Services in 2001. Steve is responsible for providing overall project management experience and guidance to the firm’s other construction managers. He has managed a vast array of projects and his background in cost estimating and scheduling is unparalleled in the area. Steve is currently a member of the Moorhead Business Association, a board member of Dakota Business Lending, and a Certified Professional Constructor with the Associated Institute of Constructors. Steve enjoys spending time with his family, biking, hiking, fishing and traveling.
What inspired you to start GCS?
I wanted to have the ability to provide professional construction management services for building owners in our region. Being from the area, I thought it particularly important to offer my skills and passions to the community that raised me. I enjoy seeing my work impact the local and regional communities.
What do you like most about working here?
I enjoy the challenges that come with this line of work. Getting projects done on a tight timeline is exciting and very rewarding once complete. The variety in our projects also means that I get to work with many people in various professions throughout the industry. I like getting to know their trades and seeing their skills in action throughout the life of a project.
What is your favorite type of project to work on? Why?
I love projects that have tight timelines and require a lot of thinking and out-of-the-box problem solving. Anything that makes my mind work through challenges in a collaborative style.
