The Central Cass addition and renovation project completely changed the dynamic of the school by incorporating the latest learning strategies such as collaboration areas and STEM active learning spaces. The campus-wide building upgrade included creating a dedicated music room for band and choir, a single court practice gymnasium, flexible auditorium with fixed seating for 350-700 depending on the configuration, a community and school partnership wellness facility and an upgrade to the mechanical and lighting systems.
Housing over 1,000 students and staff daily, this is the largest K-12 school under one roof in North Dakota. The building encompasses multiple additions and expansions dating back to 1949. One of the focuses of the project was to bring the existing building up to date with new additions and ensure a cohesive feel between the new and existing portions of the building. To achieve this, comprehensive new finishes tie the spaces together for an updated learning environment.
This project was awarded a North Dakota American Institute of Architects Award of Merit in 2021.
