For nearly five decades, the Island Park Pool has been a beloved summer destination in Fargo. Originally built in 1977, the facility has now been reimagined to meet the needs of today’s families while honoring its role as a community fixture.
The renovated pool complex offers a wide range of new amenities, including a 50-meter competition pool, a zero-depth entry pool and water playground, diving platforms, shade structures, a lazy river, and an exciting 35-foot slide tower featuring both tube and FlyTyme slides. Together, these additions ensure there is something for every age and interest, from casual play to competitive swimming.
The renovation has been more than four years in the making, and seeing it come to life has been incredibly rewarding. From the very beginning, the design team engaged the community to understand what residents wanted in a new pool, and that input directly shaped the design. A project of this scale required strong partnerships and coordination, resulting in a space the community can truly be proud of.
The inclusion of the 50-meter pool allows Island Park Pool to host USA Swimming competitions, creating new opportunities for Fargo’s swimming community and establishing the facility as a regional destination. Boe emphasized that features like the lazy river and FlyTyme slide, both new to Fargo, make the pool a place designed for everyone while representing a significant step forward in how the city serves residents during the summer months.
Island Park Pool has long been a cherished part of the community, and its revitalization ensures it will remain a safe and welcoming space for years to come.
