An interior renovation and fit-up of an existing building on UND’s campus, the School of Medicine & Health Sciences was able to take advantage of the space and fully fit up a Sports Medicine clinic to cater to student athletes. Working with BWBR and UND, the new facility accommodates their existing needs while adding functionality and space for future growth of services.
The space was setup to provide physical therapy for student athletes, nutritional support, abbreviated mental health services, and space for the sports medicine staff. A thirty yard turf area gives room for sprints & calisthenics and the open ceilings allows for recuperating athletes to throw. Fully supporting the sports medicine discipline, there are physical therapy tables, areas for weights and cardio, weight racks, a separate area for Biodex, and a prep area in the back complete with laundry and multiple sinks. With a south exposure, glazing was added to the exterior wall to enhance natural daylighting throughout the space.
