Part of the 2018 Detroit Lakes Public Schools bond referendum, Rossman Elementary School underwent extensive renovations and multiple additions to accommodate for a growing student population. The additions also allowed for the removal of temporary classrooms that had exceeded their useful lifetime and were originally implemented as a temporary solution.
The additions included new classrooms on the north side of the building which created a separate wing for kindergarten, a competition sized gym and pre-event space and entrance on the south side of the building, and secure entrances throughout the building. The renovations included upgrading the lighting and bringing in new finishes and colors to create a lively cohesive look throughout the new and old school areas.
