Creation of the Kindergarten Center at Lincoln School was the second phase of a building re-use project. A partnership between the Fergus Fall school district and Children’s Corner, a local daycare provider, turned the former Target big-box store into an infant through pre-k daycare and now additionally, a Kindergarten Center. The fitup included new mechanical systems, tying into existing fire suppression systems, and the creation of eight kindergarten rooms and supporting spaces. Common spaces include an extensive hands-on STEM area, cafeteria space, music room, and circulation spaces. Each classroom has a distinct color palette at the entry to provide easy way-finding for students. The color palettes are continued within each room. Exterior daylighting was added to each room to enhance comfort.
